How To Make Oobleck

We are now on week 3 of the sensory series! I am so excited about this weeks sensory project, it is so fun! L and I had a blast making and playing with oobleck! Have you ever heard of it? It comes from the Dr. Seuss book “Bartholomew and the Oobleck
” it is both a solid and a liquid! If you slowly run your fingers through it, it is like a liquid, but if you squeeze it, it will feel like a solid. L had a blast playing with this and making a mess with it and I even enjoyed playing with it too, who says the kids get to have all the fun??

How to make Oobleck

Items needed

  • container
  • corn starch
  • water

Start by dumping some cornstarch into your container, let the kids help and feel it at each step, ask them what it feels like.

add a little bit of water at a time, we didn’t actually measure it, just pour a little until you get the desired texture.

no mixing spoon required! L loved mixing it up with his hands!

For some reason this is what he enjoyed doing the most, putting it on his arms and letting it dry. The best park about this is the clean up really isn’t that bad, because it dries as a solid!

It’s also taste safe! Just in case you have a curious kid who wants to taste everything!
