Once all your shapes are placed in the muffin tin you can have your toddler do varies activities and place the cheerios in the correct place.  Here are some examples of things to ask them:

  • find the ______ shape, what number is on the ____ shape? ok, put that many cheerios on the ___ shape.
  • Which shape has the number __? Great! Put that many cheerios on the number __
  • Which is your favorite shape? Oh, that’s a good choice, what number is on that shape? Great! Put __ cheerios on the number __
  • Which is your favorite number? Oh, which shape has that number on it? Great, put  ___ cheerios on the ___ shape.

Saying the shape or number multiple times will help the child remember the name.
